Richard F. Bemiller, 88, of Hanover entered into God's eternal care 3:30 P.M. Monday afternoon, May 12, 2008 at Homewood at Plumcreek. He was the loving husband of Louise Hesson Bemiller to whom he was married 66 years. Born in Silver Run, MD on March 17, 1920, he was the son of the late J. Edward and Beulah A.E. Willet Bemiller. Following graduation from Eichelberger High School in 1938, Mr. Bemiller began a successful career in sales with the Nace Rhodes Co. On June 7, 1941, he married Louise Hesson. On June 4, 1943, wanting to serve his country during World War II, he joined the Navy. As a Yeoman Second Class Mr. Bemiller served with honor and pride aboard the Naval Carrier USS Croatan in the European and American Theater's of operation. Following his military service, he returned to Hanover in 1946 and continued his career as a salesman with Kuhn Auto Sales, State Farm Insurance, Fischer Insurance Agency, and Valley Mutual Insurance until retiring in 1983.Mr. Bemiller had also become a very active resident of Homewood since moving to Plum Creek in 1995. He served on the Welcoming Committee, as President of the Resident Association for three years, Chapter Advisory Committee, and was also an active member of both the Plum Creek Chapel and Chorus. Mr. Bemiller was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, York St.. He was past president of the Hanover Exchange Club and recognized as Mr. Exchangite, was a life member of Patmos Lodge No. 348 F.&A.M. , a member of Royal Arch Chapter #310, Bethel Commandery #98, Hi Twelve Club, Zembo Shrine since 1979, Hanover Elks Lodge and the Hanover VFW. In addition to his wife he will be sadly missed by a daughter Brenda Leese and husband Laverne of Littlestown, two granddaughters Julie Olive and husband Greg of Greensboro, NC, Molly Nece and husband Dan of Westchester, PA also 2 great grandchildren Matthew Olive and Tyler Nece. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday at the Homewood at Plumcreek Chapel, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover. There will be no viewing. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Marburg Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Timothy Kielley will officiate with The Rev. Joel Hummel assisting. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover is in charge of arrangements.
