Richard H. Barnhart, 86, of Hanover entered into God's eternal care 11:15 A.M. Sunday morning, April 15, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of the late Helen Trostle Barnhart who died in 1943 and companion of the late Robert Shadle, Jr. who died November 2, 2005. Born in Hanover on January 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Faber and Flora Barnhart. Mr. Barnhart was the owner of Barney's Antiques and Furniture in Hanover for more than 55 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church on York St. and Hanover American Legion Post #14. During World War II, Mr. Barnhart served his country as an Army Private First Class. He is survived by his best friend Patricia A. Utz of Hanover and a brother Faber Barnhart of McSherrystown. His funeral service will be held 2:30 P.M. Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA. Viewing will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p..m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy J. Kielley will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403, or American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 208, York, PA 17401.
