Raymond L. Kehr, 92, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, September 17, 2012 at Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community.
Born May 15, 1920 in Hanover, he was a son of the late George C. and Annie Stauffer Kehr. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Pauline D. Bowers Kehr, who died in 2007; a daughter, Judith E. Sipling; one sister, Helena Hannigan; and five brothers, Dean, Donald, Glenn, Paul and Richard Kehr. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was employed by Sheets Truck Center for more than 19 years, retiring in 1989 as the service manager.
Mr. Kehr was a member St. Paul’s (Broadway) Lutheran Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 227 in Hanover. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2506 and the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14.
Survivors include five daughters, Donna Leese and her husband, Melvin, Patricia Gebhart and her husband, Wayne, Peggy Smith and her husband, Gerald, Pamela Flynn and her husband, Sean, all of Hanover, and Stacie Coppersmith and her husband, Todd, of New Oxford; four sons, Larry Kehr of Thomasville, Gerald Kehr and his wife, Debbie, of Texas, Daniel Kehr and his wife, Julie, and William “Bill” Kehr and his wife, Rhonda, all of Hanover; two brothers, Leroy Kehr of Baltimore and Lynnwood Kehr of Hanover; four sisters, Martha Hoover, Margaret Brooks and Mary Chronister, all of Hanover, and Jessie Mae Riley of Weiglestown; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Terrence McCarthy officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing 6-8:00pm Wednesday and 10-11:00am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Marburg Memorial Gardens with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
