Raymond C. Angel, 79, beloved husband of Gloria Willet Angel of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home.
Born September 5, 1932 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Arnold and Katie Loyer Angel, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles Angel. He had been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street.
Mr. Angel retired as Plant manager for Utz Quality Foods after 32 years of service. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post # 14, AmVets Post # 22, the Hanover Republican Club, and the Littlestown Eagles Aerie # 2226. As a young man, he enjoyed playing roller hockey and later in life took great pleasure in working in his yard, fishing, camping, and playing music, cards and golf. Raymond and Gloria were known to do the “Jitterbug” on many occasions.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 58 years, is his son, Scott Angel and his wife, Sandy, of Hanover; a granddaughter, Stephanie Angel of McSherrystown; four brothers, William Angel of York, Richard Angel of Hanover, Arnold Angel of North Carolina and Earl Angel of Zephyrhills, FL; three sisters, Ruth Gruver of Virginia, Mary Wittie of Spring Grove and Joyce Becker of Shippensburg.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Larry A. McConnell officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing 6-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
