Priscilla Anne Mason McCliment, 80, of Hanover, died on February 14, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Paul Edward McCliment; sister Abigail Mason Knox (Roy) of Williamsburg VA, brother Fred Cather Mason (Karen) of Greenland, NH; three nieces and their families, and a nephew.
Born on Sunday, December 13, 1942, in Harrisburg, to the late Fred Cather and Ruth Dellinger Mason, Priscilla grew up in York, PA. She graduated in 1964 with a B.A. in Elementary Education from West Chester University. She taught school in York Central School District for several years, earning a Master’s Degree from Shippensburg University in 1969 and completing additional graduate work at Duke University. After her marriage to Paul in 1973, she was a reading specialist in the public school systems of Fairfax County (VA) and Northern Lebanon (PA), and worked with the Penn State Extension in Lebanon. When she and Paul moved back to the York area, she worked as an administrative assistant at Union Lutheran Church in York, PA.
Priscilla and Paul traveled widely to visit family and to sightsee. They also loved their dogs and getting them out on walks. Priscilla was quick to laugh at a good joke and enjoyed conversation. Her favorite quiet pastimes included bird watching, reading, sewing, and all forms of needle work. Priscilla’s many pursuits and volunteer activities demonstrate the breadth of her interests. In her youth she played piano and cello and was a member of the York Youth Symphony. In mid-life, she was a member of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors and a docent at their museum. Her love of reading led in later years to being a volunteer librarian at Homewood at Plum Creek.
A service to celebrate Priscilla’s life will be held in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolence Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
