Regina Pauline “Polly” Renaut, 92, of Abbottstown, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community.
Born on Friday, January 22, 1926 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Regina M. Kaehler Hertz and wife of 48 years to the late Francis B. Renaut, who died in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Renaut, who died in 2014 and a brother, Eugene Hertz.
A 1943 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, she was employed by Madison Square Furniture for 30 years before her retirement in 1992. She was a devout member of the parish of Immaculate Heart of Mary, where she began her membership in 1953. Very active within the church, some of her activities included being a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, teaching Sunday School and CCD classes, and participating in worship as a member of the choir, a cantor, and a lector. A lover of history, she was a member of the John Timon Reily Historical Society and enjoyed vacationing to Colonial Williamsburg. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes as well as baking desserts for the various committees on which she served.
She is survived by a son, David J. Renaut and his wife, Donna of Abbottstown; two daughters, Patricia L. Renaut and Joanne E. Small, both of Hanover; five grandchildren, Justin and Brian Small, Allison Lewis and her husband, Jonathan, Kristin Renaut, and Megan Osvath and her husband, Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Owen Lewis.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 am Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with The Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with a prayer service being held at 8 pm. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
