Phyllis Baughman Bush, 81, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Hanover Hospital.
Born December 14, 1929 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Jenny Alban Baughman, and was the wife of more than 43 years to the late James W. Bush, who died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Horace Baughman.
Mrs. Bush was a 1947 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was also a graduate of Juniata College. After working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a short time, she taught junior high school English and Reading for Hanover Public Schools from September 1957 until her retirement in June of 1984. Following her retirement, she served as a Board member for the Hanover Public School District for the school years of 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989. She was elected as Vice President of the school board for the last three years of her term. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she served as the church’s first Pastoral Assistant. She was also a member of the Board of Managers of Mount Olivet Cemetery and enjoyed traveling extensively all over the world.
Survivors include a brother, Eugene A. Baughman and his wife, Leona, of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
