Philip J. Hoke, 83, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at his home.
Born on Sunday, July 2, 1939 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Henry John and Pauline Catherine Shrader Hoke. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Edwyna S. Hoke, who died in 2001; his second wife of 14 years, Lois Saveleski, who died in 2023; and three brothers, Jim Hoke, Glenn Hoke, and Father Thomas Hoke. Philip was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A 1957 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, he was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel for 20 years. Philip was a life member of the AMVETS Post 22, the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post 14, the Hanover VFW Post 2506, and the Knights of Columbus #871. He was a member of the Hanover Lancer Drum and Bugle Corps for 55 years and the Cyril J. Alwine Assembly of the Fourth Degree.
Survivors include two sons, John A. Hoke and his wife, Diane, and Dan C. Hoke; one granddaughter, Samantha Hoke; two great grandchildren, Jason Runk, and Rose Hoke; and one brother, Andrew Hoke and his wife, Jolene.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, June 30, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road in Hanover with The Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc. 311 Broadway in Hanover.
