Philip E. Bealing, 86, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg.
Born on Saturday, June 13, 1931 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Lloyd E. Bealing, Sr. and Beatrice A. Baumgartner Bealing. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jean Wierman Bealing, who died in 2002; his son, Philip C. Bealing, who died in 2017; two sisters, Evelyn Williams and Frances Mallory; and three brothers, Lloyd E. Bealing, Jr., William E. Bealing and Charles E. Bealing.
Philip was a 1949 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve as a Sergeant First Class. In 1992, he retired from the National Can Corporation after 29 years of service and later was employed by Wege Pretzel for eleven years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Penn Mar Amateur Radio Club, Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, AmVets Post #22, Hanover Elks BPOE Lodge #763, McSherrystown Loyal Order of Moose #720, McSherrystown Home Association, and the New Oxford Social Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Elisa Laughman and her husband, Philip, of New Oxford; and a brother, Barry J. Bealing of Hanover.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with The Rev. Kate Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
