Pearl L. Lawrence, 92, of Hanover, entered into God’s care on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Gettysburg.
Born Tuesday, August 15, 1922 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Harvey A. and Sarah “Sallie” Strasbaugh Wentz. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George W. Lawrence, who died in 1992; and three sisters, Dorothy Reck, Mary Laugerman, and Beatrice “Beaty” Miller. She was a 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Lawrence retired in 1972 from Lana Lobell after 15 years of faithful service. She was a member of Golden Visions, the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a former active member of the Hanover Chapter of the AARP where she was a past treasurer. Devoted to her family, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. Lawrence and his wife, Corrine “Connie,” of Hanover; a daughter, Kitty L. Slothour and her husband, David, of Spring Grove; three grandchildren, Jamie Kuchar and her husband, Michael, Kelly Hobbs and her husband, Charles, and Andrew Sell and his companion, Elizabeth; two step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with The Rev. Brenda K. Marin officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Sell, Dave Slothour, Mike Kuchar, Charles Hobbs, Steve Reck and Joe Myers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clearview Fire Company, 411 George Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
