Henrietta P. “Pearl” Kessler, 79, of Hanover, beloved wife of George C. Kessler, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 29, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on Wednesday, August 15, 1934 in Bonneauville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and LaRue I. Baublitz Miller and was also preceded in death by two brothers, John S. Miller and Clair E. Miller, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Kessler. She was a 1952 graduate of Eichelberger High school.
Pearl retired from Hanover Hospital in 1996, after 32 years of service, where she was an administrative assistant. She had been previously employed by the Doubleday Company in Hanover and at her father’s business, Sam Miller Insurance. She was a member of St. Batholomew’s United Church (ELCA). She was a member of Soroptomist International and the Industrial Management Club. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Hanover Hospital. Pearl was also active with the Hanover YWCA volunteering with the book sale and other activities. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she cherished her cats and enjoyed her annual ladies' beach week in Ocean City.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 62 years, are three children, Steven A. Kessler of Mechanicsburg, Karen L. (Robert) Topper and Scott A. (Bonnie Bowers) Kessler, all of Hanover; six grandchildren, Matthew S. (Sarah) Kessler of Garnet Valley, PA, Rachel E. (Zachary) Tekely of Mechanicsburg, Jason D. Toot of Bradenton, FL, Erin R. (Franky) Duffy, Amber L. (Jonathan) Beckner, and Annie M. Kessler, all of Hanover; two great-grandchildren, Piper L. Duffy of Hanover and Emma L. Tekely of Mechanicsburg; and two sisters, Carol Warner of Hanover and Eleanor Muscarelli of Lititz.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
