Paul L. Strite, 57, of Hanover, husband of Janet L. Strite, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his home.
Born on August 10, 1957 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Orville B. Strite, Sr. and Pauline E. Hampton Strite. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Joy Strite; a brother, Jeryl Strite and a niece, Maggie Brown.
Paul was a member of the Class of 1976 of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg and spent his career as a truck driver, with his last employment being with H & H General Excavating Co. He enjoyed the open roads, taking trips on his Harley in his younger years as well as the outdoors, where he could hunt for deer. He was a good cook and was known for the delicious carrot cakes that he made. He was an avid football and NASCAR fan and enjoyed making puzzles out of photographs on his computer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Janet’s daughter, who he considered his own, Crystal Wyman of Lebanon; five sisters, Karen Byers and her husband, Gary of St. Thomas, Wilma Brown and her husband, Steve of Burnt Cabins, Violet Summers and her husband, Wayne of Mercersburg, Denise Angle and her husband, Jeffrey of Chambersburg and Ada Price and her husband, Randy of Shade Gap; a brother, Orville Strite, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Greencastle; many nieces and nephews and their families as well as many special friends.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday, October 13, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Marlin Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
