Services: A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court in York with The Rev. Robert H. Riedy and The Rev. Don Heindel officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation: There will not be a public viewing and burial will be private.
Paul T. O’Connor, 79, of Hanover and formerly of New Freedom, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Barbara A. MacDonald O’Connor to whom he was married for 58 years.Born November 22, 1929 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late James Leo and Mary Shirley Sweet O’Connor. His older brother, William, also preceded him in death. He retired as branch manager of Commercial Plastics, Inc. in Baltimore, MD after more than 25 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in York. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Bon Air Country Club in Glen Rock, PA, having enjoyed at least twelve holes-in-one at various golf courses throughout his lifetime.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Nancy Doyne and her husband Stephen, Gail Biba and her husband John, David O’Connor and his wife Anne, and Kelly Eckels and her husband Mark; thirteen loving grandchildren, Kate, Maggie and Libby Doyne, Jay, Paul and Tim Biba, Shawn, Ryan, and Kelly O’Connor, and Julie, Daniel, Sarah and Molly Eckels; a sister, Marylynn Carnell and three brothers, Richard, James, and Robert O’Connor. Twenty-five years ago, he welcomed into his home, a foreign exchange student, Juliana (Lopez) Lloyd who has been a joyful addition to his family.The family wishes to express gratitude to Golden Visions and Odyssey Hospice. It is through the loyal support of so many dedicated caregivers that allowed Paul to be cared for at home throughout his long illness.
