Paul A. Grote, 70, of Hanover, beloved husband of Leslie Grote, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, April 26, 2024 at his home.
Born on Monday, June 15, 1953 in New Brunswick, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter and Charlotte Dickhut Grote. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lee Ann Grote-Lardiere and Jennifer Grote. Paul was a 1971 graduate of Dixie M. Hollins High School in St. Petersburg, FL and was an employee of the former Stambaugh Auto Parts and had most recently worked at Penn Auto Parts. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Hanover.
Paul had a great passion for anything cars. Over the years, his repeat customers became very good friends. Paul took great pleasure in helping them find the correct parts for their classic cars. He would be so happy when at a car show, he would see a friend there, with their car beautifully restored. He really loved classic rock music and attending live concerts. He enjoyed watching the Orioles play, especially in person at Camden Yards. He was a truly a “people person” he loved his friends. He cherished spending time with family, his wife Leslie, his children and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 25 years, are three daughters, Alicia Witherspoon of Florida, Michelle Hook of New Jersey and Courtney Hook of Arkansas; a step-son, Todd Stewart; a step-daughter, Tori Gregg, both of Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Fred Young officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
