Patricia A. (Poist) Kebil, 88, of McSherrystown, peacefully entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at her home at St. Joseph Village.
Born on Sunday, January 3, 1937 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Francis X. Poist, Sr. and Carrie Hemler Poist. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Joseph A. Kebil, who died in 2021; siblings, Francis X. Poist, Jr., Geraldine Panebaker, Robert, William, Joseph, Richard and James Poist, Marie Weaver and Mary Teel; and a son-in-law, Andrew Smith.
Pat was a member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church. She was a server at the Victory Restaurant in Hanover for many years and was an active member with the Ladies Auxiliary of the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus. Pat had volunteered at the Hanover Council of Churches PAL lunch program and the St. Vincent Thrift Shop. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, where she often called the numbers. A dedicated mother, she was very proud of the five children she raised.
Surviving are five children, Elaine Walton and her husband, Mitchell, of East Berlin, Peggy Aumen and her husband, Nick, of York Springs, Michael Kebil and his wife, Emily, of Hanover, Sharon Kebil-Whisler and her husband, Dave, and Joanie Smith, all of Spring Grove; eight grandchildren, Luke and Katie Walton, Eric Aumen, Vanessa Schreyer, Christopher Aumen, Max Whisler, Ali Vizzard and Derek Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Gianna, Petal, Seersi, Asa, Everett, Augustine, Evander, Nataleigh and Lennon; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Annunciation BVM Catholic Church, 26 N. Third Street in McSherrystown by The Rev. Richard Lyons. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat Kebil’s name may be made to St. Joseph Village, 50 Academy Street, McSherrystown, PA 17344.
