Owen H. Mehring, 82, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg.
Born on Sunday, August 30, 1931 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Allan R. and Fannie Mae Duncan Mehring, and was also preceded in death by his brother, James Mehring. A 1950 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he had lived in Hanover most of his life before moving to Mechanicsburg in 1997.
Mr. Mehring retired in 1994 from Utz Quality Foods after 33 years of service and was currently employed by Bobby Rahal Lexus. He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown. He was a loving husband and father and was a dedicated grandfather being his grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Winifred N. Mehring; a daughter, Julie Krepps and her husband, Robert, of Camp Hill; a son, David O. Mehring of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Abbey, Samuel and Noah Krepps; a sister, Patsy Anderson of Hanover; and a sister-in-law, Daryl Mehring of New Oxford.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Michael L. Seifried officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 44 W. Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011.
