Oscar W. Hambrough, 83, of Hanover, PA formerly of Brockton and Marion, MA entered into God's eternal care, 10:45 A.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at his home. He was the loving husband of Priscilla Pattangall Hambrough whom he married April 17, 1949. Born in San Diego, CA on March 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Oscar W. Hambrough, Sr. and Olga Berger Hambrough. Unitl his retirement, Mr. Hambrough had been employed for many years as a Technical Writer for the Foxboro Company, Foxboro, MA. He graduated from Boston University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Hambrough was a member of the First Congregational Church of Marion, MA and attended the First Church of God in Hanover. He will be remembered by many as a caring and giving person, who often helped people less fortunate than himself. Following his retirement from the Foxboro Company he volunteered his time to work at a Soup Kitchen in New Bedford, MA. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Tech Sergeant Hambrough served his country from 1942 till 1945 with honor, pride, and valor, while participating with the First Marine Division in the combat operations and battles in the South Pacific for Guadalcanal, the Marianas, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his daughters Lesley H. Appleton and husband Glenn of Kingston, NH, Kimberly H. Quintanilla and husband Rene of St. Marys GA, 4 grandchildren Christopher G. Appleton, Kelley A. Latta, Mark H. Appleton, Daniel R. Quintanilla and 7 Great Grandchildren. A service to remember and celebrate his life will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the First Church of God, 600 Fairview Dr., Hanover, PA. Viewing will be at the church from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, MA. Pastor Jerry Shoap will officiate with Pastor Mark A. Appleton and The Rev. James H. Irwin assisting. Military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA is assisting the family with arrangements.
