Odetta H. Newman, 96, of New Oxford, formerly of Hanover entered into God's eternal care 12:50 a.m. Monday morning, February 12, 2007, at The Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of the late Bradley Bowman Newman who died in 1969. OctoberBorn in Taneytown, MD on October 19, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Florence Harnish Hyser. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Littlestown. Mrs. Newman had also been a member of the VFW Auxiliary Hanover Post #2506, Women's Auxiliary of the Taneytown, MD American Legion, Pythian Sisters, Taneytown, MD, and the Parkville Fire Co. Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter Betty Mae Arnold of Hanover, 4 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, a sister Grace Putman of Taneytown, MD and a daughter-in-law Daryl Newman of Mountville, PA Mrs. Newman was also preceded in death by a son Frank H. Newman and two grandchildren. A service of remembrance will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The Rev. James Dunlap will officiate.
