Services:
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 31, 2009 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.


Visitation: The viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
Normand A. Raboin, 85, of Bel Air MD, formerly of Hanover, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Bel Air Health and Rehabilation Center.Born April 20, 1924 in West Warwick, RI, he was a son of the late Edward and Ogna Agnes Raboin, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel A. Mummert Raboin, who died in 1999. He served in the United States Navy, retiring in 1962 as a senior chief petty officer having been aboard the USS Miami during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific and on the USS Albany in the Korean War. He was decorated with six campaign ribbons with six stars and continued his service by traveling extensively as a member of a fleet assistance team, including four visits to the United States Forces in Vietnam. He later served with the National Security Council in Washington DC.Mr. Raboin was a member and past president of St. Joseph Catholic Church Holy Name Society, and served as the first Vice President for the Pennsylvania Association of Holy Names Societies. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #871, the Hanover Elks Lodge #763, the Lions Club of Hanover, the American Legion Post #14, the AmVets Post #22, the Catholic War Veterans Post #1342 and served on the Board of Directors of the Hanover Area Council of Churches. Committed to his community, he served as Quartermaster of the VFW Post 2506, on the Boards of Directors for the American Red Cross of Hanover and the Hanover YMCA, and also served as the Chairman of the Special Gifts Division of the United Way Campaign.Survivors include a brother Edward Raboin; a brother-in-law, Richard Mummert; and several nieces and nephews.
