Norman E. Masenheimer, Jr., 90, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Monday, November 7, 1927 in Silver Run, MD, he was a son of the late Norman E. Masenheimer, Sr. and Irma Naomi Arter Masenheimer. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth E. Masenheimer, who died in 2010, and a brother, Larry Masenheimer. A 1945 graduate of Westminster High School, he was a US Army veteran of World War II. Norman retired after many years of service with the Doubleday Company and later worked for Shearer’s Florist. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – York Street and a life member of the Hanover VFW Post #2506. He was also a member of the Hanover Penn Chapter 2812 of the AARP and the Central Pennsylvania Corvair Club. As a car enthusiast, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and going to antique car shows.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephania Kitchen and her husband, Frederick, of Manassas Park, VA; three granddaughters, Jennifer Martin and her husband, Tim, Sheila Kitchen and Shannon Kitchen; four great-grandchildren, Allison, Lukas, Lacie and Arianna Martin; and a sister, Shirley Trish and her husband, Earl, of York..
The funeral will be held at 10 am Friday, January 12, 2018 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
