Nira C. Stoner, 80, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her home following a short illness.



Born on August 18, 1933 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Erzy and Catherine Gross Dull and wife of 59 years to the late Raymond V. Stoner, who died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Jack Krenzer.



A 1951 graduate of Hanover High School, she dedicated her life to nurturing and loving her family and friends. A gentle and giving soul, she volunteered with the VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove for 10 years, and served PAL lunches for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hanover and had been an active member and dedicated volunteer with the former Lohr’s Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Doubleday Publishing, the former Antonio’s Restaurant and The Lite-House. Nira was a quiet and grateful person who loved deeply and lived faithfully.



Survivors include her daughter, Wanda K. (Robert) Wareham of Painesville, OH; two sons, Bruce V. (Debra) Stoner of Loveland, CO and Brad R. Stoner of Hanover; four grandchildren, Mitchell Louis Wareham, Cameran Nira Anne Wareham, Kate Michelle (Nathan) Meadows, and Andrew Michael Stoner; one great-grandson, William Thomas Meadows; one sister, Pat (Donald) Mills of Hanover; one sister-in-law, Mary L. Krenzer of Hanover and several nieces and nephews.



The funeral will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Hanover with The Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, February 24, 2014 in Rest Haven Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331, or First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
