Nevin L. Wildasin, 88, a resident of Cross Keys Village, passed away peacefully into God’s eternal care with his family by his side on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Hanover Hospital.
Born December 19, 1922 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Lawrence M. Wildasin and Hilda Bish Wildasin Feeser and was the husband of 61 years to the late Henrietta Mummert Wildasin, who died in 2002. He was a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council for a number of years.
Mr. Wildasin was a former employee of the Naval Ordnance Plant in York, AMF in York, the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot and retired in 1984 from Hanover Sample Book. Following his retirement, he was a part-time employee of Hanover Candy & Tobacco. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, Hanover VFW Post #2506, AmVets Post #22, McSherrystown Moose Lodge #720, and was a former member of the Hanover Elks Lodge BPOE #763. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and going to the ocean. He also enjoyed playing cards, but especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Judi E. Sanders of Hanover; a son, Larry N. Wildasin and his wife, Sandy, of Glenville; a sister, Ruth N. Schaefer and her husband, Jerry, of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren, Gregory Sanders and his wife, Wanda, Matthew Sanders, Tony Sanders and his wife, Shannan, and Andrea Wildasin-Werner and her husband, Thomas Werner; seven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Layken and Sierra Sanders, Antonia and Winifred Werner, and Dakota and Cassandra Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran Church with The Rev. Craig A. Lantz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held 6-8:00 pm Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and at the church one hour prior to the service.
