Nancy L. Martin, 72, of New Oxford, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 7, 2013 unexpectedly.
Born on November 2, 1940 in Sherando, VA, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Georgie Perry Henderson and wife of 52 years to the late Bobbie N. Martin, who died in 2010.
She dedicated her career to caring for the elderly and was employed by the Brethren Home for many years. She recently worked part-time at Kohl’s Department Store. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in East Berlin. Her life was centered around her family, her grandchildren and her dog, Max.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Sponseller and her husband, Rodney of Abbottstown, Donna Runkle and her husband, Dave of Hanover and Deb Altland and her husband, Charlie of East Berlin; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Gloria Carter and her husband, Roger and Sue Whiting and her husband, Fred, all of Afton, VA and Ann Hutchens and Janie and Bob Schumate, all of Waynesboro; her dear and devoted friend, Twila Korver, along with her faithful companion, Max.
The funeral will be held at 1 pm Friday, October 11, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service.
