Monroe L. Baumgardner, Jr., 89, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born on Thursday, June 7, 1928 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Monroe L. Baumgardner, Sr. and Helen Bechtel Baumgardner. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Joyce A. Baumgardner, who died in 2014; an infant daughter, Gail Baumgardner; and two sisters, Arlene Cluck and Eleanor Kerchner.
Monroe retired in 1993 from the former Conewago Contractors after 28 years of service. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-York Street in Hanover, Friendship Fire Company and the York County Fireman’s Association.
Survivors include four children, Thomas J. Baumgardner of York, Stephen D. Baumgardner of Blaine, MN, Ronald D. Baumgardner of Dillsburg, and Barbara Ann Wolf of Abbottstown; two sisters, Ruthanna Dusman and Dianne Albin, both of Hanover; 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-York Street with The Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
