Mildred C. “Milly” Thomassy, 75, of Hanover, was reunited with her husband, Jerome E. “Jet” Thomassy, on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Born on Monday, September 20, 1948 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Harold E. and Martha A. Smith Ditzler. In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, who died in 2017, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Angela Lehman and Joan Kuhn. A 1966 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She spent the early part of her life, dedicated to raising her children during their younger years. Always having an eye for fashion, she worked at Baker’s Dress Shop for many years. Milly enjoyed flowers, working in the garden and cooking.
Survivors include three children, Scott E. Thomassy and his wife, Dolly, of York, Lisa C. Smith and her husband, Michael, of Ocean City, MD and Brian C. Thomassy of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Joshua E. Timmins, Jenna N. Marsteller, Emily C. Smith, Jessica L. Thomassy, Hailey E. Smith, Madelyn P. Rinehart, and Jonathan S. Thomassy; six great-grandchildren with another expected soon; six siblings, Margaret Zumbo, Benedict Ditzler, Madeline Small, Anita Klunk, Marie Saghy and Mary Clabaugh; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road in Hanover by The Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday.
