Merle D. Johnson, 86, loving husband of Dorothy Clark Johnson of Hanover, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Hanover Hospital after a long illness.
Born July 29, 1927 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Melvin and Mamie Koehl Johnson. He loved bowling, fishing and following the Baltimore Orioles. He raced homing pigeons and was a longtime member of the American Legion in Baltimore. Merle will always be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of nearly 64 years, are his three children, Terry M. Johnson of Baltimore, Becky Johnson and Kim Davis and her husband, Larry, all of Glenville; three grandchildren, Shannon France and her husband, Jason, of Hanover, and Kacie and Kyle Davis, both of Glenville; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Harris of Glenville.
A private service will be held for the family.
