Melvin L. Miller, 79, of Hanover, beloved husband of Martha E. Beard Miller, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Mount Joy Hospice Center.
Born on Tuesday, February 9, 1937, he was a son of the late Frank and Martha Dawson Miller, and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karie Beth Skidmore; two brothers; and five sisters. A previous employee of the former Wampler Foods and the Schaad Detective Agency, Melvin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the McSherrystown Home association and the Yellow Breeches Sportsman Society.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Karen Skidmore and her husband, Ellsworth Skidmore, Jr., Elizabeth Keefer and her husband, David, all of McSherrystown, and Melvin Miller and his wife, Joan, of Spring Grove; five step-children, Cory Beard and his wife, Stacy, of Spring Grove, Michael Moore, Jr. and his wife, Ariana, of York Springs, John Moore of Hanover, Joseph Moore and his wife, Amber, of Winchester, VA, and Mark Moore and his wife, Jessica, of Hanover; eight grandchildren, Ellsworth Skidmore, Nathan Miller, Isabelle Keefer, Skylynn Beard, Shylynn Lookingbill, Kori Ann Beard, Daren Beard, and Madison Moore; a brother, Joe Miller of Wayne, MI; and two sisters, Maxine Beeman and Donna Seveleski, both of Cumberland, MD.
A funeral will be held at 11am Monday, March 21, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
