Services: The funeral will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Garry L. Sheaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Melvin Paul “Judge” Sheely, 97, of Gettysburg, formerly of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Green Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born on December 29, 1911 in Carroll County, MD, he was the only son of the late Howard W. and Mary Alice Grimes Sheely. He was also preceded in death by three daughters, Edith and Charlotte Sheely and Dorothy Utz; his former wife of 25 years, Marie Louey Sheely; a sister, Ethel Miner and four brothers, Walter, Alvin, Clarence and Earl Sheely. He retired from BorgWarner, Inc., was a member of the Hanover Moose Lodge #227 and was a lifetime member of Parkville Fire Company.Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jane Howe and her husband Jacob of Gettysburg; two sons, Robert P. Sheely and his wife Nancy and Richard Sheely and his wife Mary, all of New Oxford; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
