Melba Joyce Rogers, 82, of Hanover, wife of Martin H. Rogers, III, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at her home following a brief illness.
Born on Monday, March 31, 1941 in Knoxville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Carl Jackson Booker and Christine Nicely Booker. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Jackson Booker, Jr.; and a sister, Burlene Williford. A graduate of Cranberry High School in Elk Park, NC, Melba was dedicated to her career as a computer programmer with the National Security Agency for 30 years until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Hanover.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, she is survived by a son, Martin Henry Rogers, IV; two grandchildren, Abigail Celestina Rogers and Duncan Xavier Rogers and their mother, Jessica Hudson; a sister, Sara B. Crowe; several nieces and nephews; a great-nephew, Micah Dobbins; and a great-niece, Lakyn Philpaw.
A private service is being planned.
