Melanie “Mel” “Mimi” Gladfelter, 40, of Hanover, loving wife of Travis Gladfelter, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, September 26, 2021 following a lengthy illness.
Born on Tuesday, September 22, 1981 in Greensburg, PA, she was the daughter of Lorraine Mason and her husband, Steven, of Hanover and the late Mark W. Moschetti. Melanie was a breast cancer survivor who enjoyed painting, swimming, cats and “Hello Kitty”. She was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, country music and especially the New Kids on the Block. Above all, Melanie dearly loved her step-daughter and nieces and nephews, and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of eight years and her mother and step-father, survivors include her step-daughter Maycie Gladfelter of Littlestown; a brother, Mark E. Moschetti and his wife, Candy, of Chambersburg; maternal grandmother, Vernice Hetrick; nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Emma and Noah Moschetti, and Alexis and Nolan Schooley; and her mother and father-in-law, Gregory and Paula Gladfelter of New Oxford. She was preceded in death by her son, Austin Moschetti Wensel; maternal grandparents, Edward Jackie Hetrick; and Nicholas and Rose Moschetti.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2021 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Douglas Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
