Maxine Gorman Hoff, 72, formerly of Fulton Street in Hanover, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community following a period of declining health.
Born February 2, 1939 in Amsbry, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Herhei Gorman.
After completing nursing school at Altoona Hospital, she married and moved to Hanover where she served as a registered nurse at Hanover Hospital. She retired in 2009, after working for more than 45 years in the maternity ward and pediatrics. Maxine was devoted to her profession and was respected by her peers. She cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Spangler and her husband, Jack, and a granddaughter, Morgan Spangler, all of Oak Ridge, TN; a grandson, Adam Spangler of Louisville, KY; one brother, John Gorman and his wife, Diane, of Flinton, PA; two nephews, Michael and David Gorman; and a niece, Danielle Gorman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc. with The Rev. Tina Minnich officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Following cremation, she will be buried alongside her parents in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow, PA
