Maurice W. Hoke, 97, of New Oxford passed away peacefully Monday, January 7, 2013 at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community.
Born May 22, 1915 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Clinton T. and Della Luckenbaugh Hoke. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Anna Mae Hoke, who died in 2010, and two sisters, Mary Sealover and Treva Hoover.
Mr. Hoke retired in 1980, after 40 years of service, from Hanover Foods where he was the maintenance manager. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover Elks BPOE #767, and was a life member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14 and VFW Post #2506.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela H. Doty and her husband, Randall, of Lakeland, FL; two sons, Thomas C. Hoke, and his wife, Joanne Murray, of Natick, MA, and Michael C. Hoke and his wife, Linda, of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at a viewings to be held 6-8:00 PM Friday and 12-1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
