Maureen M. Bortner, 85, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center with her loving husband, Laverne G. Bortner, by her side.
Born on Sunday, July 21, 1935 in Spring Grove, she was a daughter of the late Richard C. and Helen H. Weaver Kessler. Maureen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 69 years, are five children, Jacquelyn L. Burt and her husband, Randy, of The Villages, FL, Richard A. Bortner and his wife, Nancy, of Georgia, Laverne Scott Bortner and his wife, Kris, of Spring Grove, James L. Bortner and his wife, Brenda, of York, and Jina E. Bortner and her spouse, Tanya Lewinberg, of Canada; three sisters, Pat Miller, Virginia Gentzler and Linda Kerns, all of Spring Grove; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main Street, Spring Grove, PA 17362.
