Matilda M. “Tilly” Zartman, 71, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital.
Born on Sunday, May 6, 1951 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late William Dallas Tyler and Georgia Mae Miller Tyler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 34 years, Wayne A. Zartman, who died in 2016; and three brothers, David, Bill and Joe Tyler. Tilly was a retired employee of Utz Quality Foods, where she had worked for about 25 years. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, where she was active with the Ladies of Grace, and was also a member of the Hanover Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 1406. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking and made the most delicious pies. Always a kind and loving person, Tilly thoroughly enjoyed spending time and playing games with her sisters on a regular basis.
Survivors include a daughter, Crista “Raven” Zartman of New Oxford; a son, Paul Zartman and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hanover; two grandsons, Devin and Caleb Leatherman; a great-grandson, Easton Leatherman; five sisters, Shirley Harris and her husband, Haskell, Barbara Curry, Linda Kagarise and her husband, Bill, Bonnie Barry, and Patricia Brown and her husband, Patrick; two brothers, James Tyler and his wife, Tanya, and Richard Tyler and his wife, Annie; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
