Mary Jane Walter, 86, of Hanover and formerly of Elkins, WV passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1930 at Marlinton, WV a daughter of the late Martin Leidy and the late Versie Virginia Lewis Leidy. She was married to Clyde Edgar Walter, Sr. who preceded her in death March 23, 1982. Mrs. Walter was self-employed providing care for children for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Orendorff, Abbottstown, PA and Lois Marie Sell of Westminster, MD. Three brothers, Delmar Leidy and Benjamin “Ginger” Hamrick both of Elkins and George Hamrick of Dry Fork, WV; Two sisters, Ada Bell of Maryland and Nellie Hamrick of Ohio; three grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Sharon Sue Cox; one son, Clyde Walter, Jr.; three brothers, Raymond Dilley, Virgil Leidy and Harlen “Buddy Lee” Hamrick and five sisters, Betty Bell, Jo Ann Arbogast, Pauline Knavenshue, Roena Pierce and Sally Vanscoy.
Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home, 45 Randolph in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 4th from the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Thursday in the Emerson Walters Cemetery at Fort Valley, VA.
