Mary Emma Stremmel, 104, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Sunday, June 5, 1910 in Silver Run, MD, she was a daughter of the late Russell A. and Beulah L. Koontz Myers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Reginald C. Stremmel, who died in 1990; a brother, Stanley Myers, and four sisters; Gladys Biddle, Caroline Flickinger, Ruby Wentz and Fredyth L. Myers.
In 1972, she retired from Revonah Spinning Mill after 40 years of service, and was a lifetime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Mrs. Stremmel was a member of the Hanover Fire Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary and also enjoyed camping and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.
Survivors include her daughter, Ladora S. Hoff and her husband, Curtis, of Hanover; two grandchildren, Brian R. Hoff and his wife, Debra, Hanover, and Erin K. Coyne and her husband, Thomas, of Newtown, PA; five great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Hoff and his wife, Dona, of Lancaster, Madison Hoff of Hanover, Thomas Coyne, Jr. and his wife, Valerie, of New Jersey, Meredith Haskin and her husband, Adam, of Doylestown, and Timothy Coyne of Santa Monica, CA; and a great-great-grandson, Curtis David Haskin of Doylestown.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Kathryn A. Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
