Mary E. Leslie

Mary E. Leslie, 82, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her home.

Born on Monday, June 8, 1942 in Rockville, MD, she was a daughter of the late Roy Wilmer Foster and Pauline Ruth Easton Foster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Leslie. Mary devoted 30 years of her professional career to working for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Emmitsburg. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling. She particularly found joy in exploring Amish country, where she cherished the simplicity and sincerity of the rural lifestyle. Mary was born in Rockville, MD, but spent most of her childhood in the Shenandoah Valley, VA area. Mary moved back to Maryland where she met her late husband, Richard. In 1981, Mary and her family moved to the Gettysburg area where they called home for many years. The best part of her life was having two wonderful granddaughters.

Survivors include her son, Michael Barstow and his wife, Tina; and two granddaughters, Ashley and Breanna Barstow. 

A service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
