Mary Grace Bish Graybill, 97, of Hanover, went to be with the Lordand many loved ones on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Friday, August 21, 1925 in Carroll County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Paul A. and Bessie Null Bish. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, The Rev. William L. Graybill, who died in 1995; and a son, William L. Graybill, II. A 1943 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she began attending classes at Lancaster Bible College at the age of 50. Mary was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and the scriptures and was a member of St. Bartholomew’s United Church (ELCA). She taught and shared the scriptures for many years in various churches and denominations, in addition to conducting home Bible studies. Her interests were varied and many. She had a love for her family and for people in general, and enjoyed politics, reading, cooking, sewing, interior decorating, crossword puzzles and learning new things. Mary was employed at the former Middleburg Manufacturing Co. for 29 years, and later worked in the catalog department at Sears for 17 years. Beginning in 1996, she engaged in personal care work until retiring in 2010, a profession that she believed to be the best thing she had ever done.
Survivors include two children, Jonathan Graybill and his wife, Tracy, of Heath, TX, and Lucinda Graybill, who faithfully lived with and cared for her mother; a god son, Chad Harper; eight grandchildren, Laura, Matthew, Nathan, Michael, a second Matthew, Mia, Miles and Molly; and two known great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at St. Bartholomew’s United Church (ELCA), 1204 Grand Valley Road in Hanover with The Rev. Steven Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
