Mary Catherine Bixler Bolin, 98, of Hanover, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at The Spiritrust Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Saturday, May 24, 1919 in Mount Pleasant Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry Abraham and Ann Mary Lawrence Bixler and wife 53 years to the late Francis L. Bolin, Sr. who died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, George Robert Bolin; a brother, George H. Bixler; two half-brothers, Loy Bixler and Robert Lawrence and a half-sister, Esther Lawrence.
Mary was employed by the Middleburg Sewing Factory for over 45 years before her retirement in 1981. She was a faithful member of Grace United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a Cub Scout den mother, was a skilled gardener and was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Penn State Nittany Lions fan.
Survivors include her son, Francis L. “Butch” Bolin and his wife, Charlotte, of Hanover; two grandchildren, Troy Bolin and Stacy Bolin and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm on Friday at Grace United Church of Christ with The Rev. Melissa A. Eicholtz officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
