Martha R. Frederick, 86, passed away at Hanover Hospital early Thursday morning, July 3, 2008 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Frederick. She was born on May 21, 1922 in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Zella McEwen Roller of Binghamton, NY. Martha graduated from Binghamton Central High School, NY in 1940, Syracuse University School of Nursing with an RN degree in 1943 and from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH earning her certification in Public Health Nursing. She enjoyed playing the piano and received multiple awards for her talents as a young adult. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. Martha and her husband , Walter, raised their family in Elmira, NY. The couple moved to Port Orange, FL for their retirement years. After the death of Walter in 1988, Martha moved to Hanover to be closer to her family. After her move to Hanover, Martha became a member of AARP, the YWCA, YMCA, and Trinity United Church of Christ, York St.. She also volunteered at the Hanover Public Library. Martha is survived by her son, Carl D. and daughter-in-law, Rosalind L. Frederick of Elk Grove, CA, daughter Anne F. and son-in-law John J. Quashnoc of Hanover, granddaughter Sarah Q. and husband Richard Carter of Littlestown and granddaughter Rachel Quashnoc of Hanover. Cremation will be arranged by Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martha's name may be made to the Salvation Army, 114 Broadway, Hanover, PA 17331.
