Services: A Hanover Lodge #763 Elks service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning followed by a memorial service at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover.
Visitation: Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning.
Marlet D. James Eltz, 92, of Hanover entered into God's eternal care 7:02 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Ida Marie Lawler Eltz to whom he was married 66 years on May 9th. Born in Hampton, PA on December 22, 1915, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Arabelle Deatrick Eltz. Mr. Eltz retired as an Administrator for the Naval Depot, Mechanicsburg in 1978 after 38 years of employment. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Patmos Lodge No. 348 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Masons, Lake Worth, FL, Amara Shriners, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and the Hanover Republican Club. Mr. Eltz was also a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Hanover Lodge #763 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler, Hanover Veterans of Foreign Wars, and McSherrystown Home Association. In June of 1942, Mr. Eltz enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and served his country as a Sergeant in the Pacific Theater of Operations until returning to Hanover in January of 1945. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a nephew Victor K. Crooks, II and wife Lorene of Hanover. Mr. Eltz was preceded in death by a niece Barbara Crooks Nickey. A Hanover Lodge #763 Elks service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning followed by a memorial service at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday morning. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The Rev. Kenneth S.
