Marlene Ann Crocken

Marlene Ann Crocken (Speranzella), 91, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Transitions Healthcare. 

Born on Saturday, November 14, 1933 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Michael Speranzella and Margaret Winks Speranzella. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Crocken; two children, Joseph Dewey and Robbin Hofferbert; brothers, Joe, Michael, Ray, and Thomas Speranzella; sisters, Joan Walls, Anna Mae Kammer, Patricia Pennacchia, and Connie Macchione; brothers-in-law, Robert Walls, Tony Pennacchia, Ben Macchione, and Tom Denham; and a sister in law, Helen Speranzella . 

Marlene was an excellent seamstress and cook. She loved Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Frank Sinatra. Marlene sold life insurance for several years, but for the most part she was a home maker who thrived on taking care of her family. She also loved trips to the casino. 

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Kemp and her husband, William; son in law, Mike Hofferbert ;six grandchildren, William Kemp and his partner, Kelsey Eckenrode, Joseph Dewey and his wife, Ashtyn, Michael Hofferbert and his partner, Shawna Minter, Andrew Hofferbert and his wife, Megan, Shannon Mannino and her husband, Derrick, and Jacalyn Sokolow; 12 great grandchildren, Henry, Stella, Averi, Mila, Domenick, Anthony, Lena, Mara, Jaxon, Max, Evie, and Maci; sister, Phyllis Denham; brothers-in-law, Frank Kammer and Bud Sutcliffe; Patty Mazziott, who was like a daughter to her, and her husband, Joe and their son, Eli; and many nieces and nephews. 

A service will be held at 12 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
