Margaret C. Bair, 85, beloved wife of Donald W. Bair of Hanover, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8, 2012 at her home.





Born December 3, 1926 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Carl I. and Helmi L. Carlson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruthe Brown. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hanover.





Mrs. Bair was a 1944 graduate of Eichelberger High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University in 1947. In 1989, she retired as an Elementary Secretary for the Hanover Public School District after 14 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.





Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 65 years, are four children, Scott Bair and his wife, Vicki, of Dillsburg, Jack W. Bair and his wife, Vonita, of Greencastle, J. Stephen Bair and his wife, Donna, of Hanover, and Christine E. Bair of Carlisle; six grandchildren, Angela L. Anderson, Brian C. Bair, Corey J. Bair, Derek S. Bair, Matthew A. Johnson and Brett A. Johnson; two step-grandchildren, Danielle L. Ryder Ray Hess, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Leah D. Anderson, Liam R. Bair and Phoenix X. Johnson.





Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Mount Olivet Cemetery with her niece, The Rev. Dr. Joanne Brown, officiating.





In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove; 440 N. Madison Street; Hanover, PA 17331.
