Louis C. Raborg, of Hanover, nearing his 97th birthday, died Monday, March 7, 2011 with his son at his side at Hanover Hall following a period of declining health.
Born on March 12, 1914 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a longtime resident of the Baltimore area before moving to Hanover nine years ago. He was a son of the late Joseph R. and Catherine Baker Raborg and the husband of 47 years to the late Mary Agnes Barry Raborg, who died in 2001. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Linda Creswell and three brothers.
Mr. Raborg served as a drill sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. Following the war, he was employed by the Naval Surface Weapons Center, until his retirement in 1978 following 35 years of service. He held memberships in the Veterans of Foreign War and the Overlea-Perry Hall American Legion Post 130.
Mr. Raborg will be remembered as a genuine, good man who was dedicated to his family, devoted to the Catholic Church and likely to share a good laugh with another. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed following his favorite teams, the Baltimore Colts, Orioles and Notre Dame.
Survivors include a son, Mike Raborg and his wife, Chrissy of Hanover; two granddaughters, Michele Creswell and Alexa Raborg and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at a viewing at 6pm Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc. with a funeral service to follow at 8pm. A Committal Service will be held at 10 am Friday, March 11, 2011 at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 4430 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD.
