Lois Estella Weaver Danner

Lois Estella Weaver Danner, age 85, of New Oxford, PA took the hand of Jesus on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Hanover Hospital, after a period of declining health. She was a resident of The Cross Keys Village - Brethren Home.

Born on January 18, 1932 in Lemoyne, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Martha Estella Anderson Weaver and wife of the late Donald E. Danner, Sr., her husband of 61 years who passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles A. Weaver, Jr.

She was a graduate of East Berlin High School and was a woman of strong faith who lived a life that was devoted to her family and her Savior. Lois will be remembered for her strong sense of humor, caring ways and her loving spirit. She loved to see the joy that her kind words and compliments brought to others. Skilled at many things with her hands from knitting to playing the keys of the piano, organ and accordion, she enjoyed squirrel hunting and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends and was an avid collector of rooster chickens. Lois was a longtime dog owner especially of schnauzers and loved to befriend all pets. A genealogist at heart, she enjoyed researching and recording her family’s history.

Lois was a very hard worker, and as a result of growing up on a farm, she brought a resilience to her part time employment in the cafeterias at the New Oxford School District and at Musselman Apple Factory.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Inc. and along with her late husband, helped to start the Model Train Club at the Brethren Village. She attended First United Methodist Church of Hanover.

Lois is survived by six children, Donna D. Leese of Hanover, Donald E. Danner, Jr. and his wife, JoAnn of East Berlin, Thomas M. Danner and his wife, Sandy of Hanover, Timothy J. Danner and his wife, Rebecca of Utah, Terry A. Danner and his wife, Linda of Hanover and Lyn D. Danner and his wife, Lynn of Dover; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, J. Warren Weaver and his wife, June of Hanover; sister, Marian G. Masemer of New Oxford; a sister-in-law, Mary Susan Miller of New Oxford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 10 am Saturday, January 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street Hanover. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at the Nicarry Meetinghouse, Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community. Burial will be held at a later date in Mummerts Meetinghouse Cemetery.

As per her wishes, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of Cross Keys Village—The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
