Services: The funeral will be held 10:00 am Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Glass, Andrew Glass, Nathan Glass, David Smith, Jeffrey Sullivan, Larry Cook, Timothy Glass, Jessica Pittinger, Paul Pittinger IV, and Brandon Glass.
Visitation: The viewing will be from 6 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home.
SHORTY SMALL, HanoverLinford C. “Shorty” Small, 73, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, November 30, 2008 with his family by his side.Born on January 5, 1935 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Frank and Jennie Mae Bowman Small. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 10 years, Patricia Fuhrman Small and by his two brothers, Kenneth D. Small and Francis X. Small. He served abroad in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga, earning a Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by Penn Mar Castings for over 30 years, having retired in 2005. He will be remembered by his generous spirit, his contagious smile, and his willingness to help anyone at anytime with anything at any cost.Survivors include the last of his immediate family, a nephew, Jay Small, two nieces, Rosalind J. Smith and her husband Nelson and their family, all of Hanover and Elizabeth A. Kneller and her husband Silas and their family, of Glenville. Also surviving are his two step-sons, Philip Glass and his wife Maxine and David Glass; a step-daughter, Wanda Pittinger, all of Hanover; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
