Leroy Richard Grams, 89, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his home.
Born on Saturday, August 4, 1934 in Brunswick, MD, he was a son of the late Leroy Edward and Daisy Bell (Harper) Grams. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Shirley A. Grams, who died in 2019; a sister, Frances Harmon; and brothers, Robert and Donald Grams. A 1952 graduate of Brunswick (MD) High School, Leroy was employed by B&O Railroad for 9 years before retiring from Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO) after more than 30 years of service. He served with the US Army as a medic during the Cold War. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover and the Brunswick Masonic Lodge #191 AF & AM. Leroy was an avid Washington Redskins and University of Maryland Terrapin fan.
Survivors include a daughter, Shari Grams Therit and her husband, William, of New Oxford; one son, Darrin Grams and his wife, Diane, of Hanover; two granddaughters, Meghan Mason and her husband, Matthew, and Brittany Snell and her husband, Richard; a grandson, Devin Grams and his companion, Perla Velasquez; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Snell, Elena Paige Mason, Havanna Ann Grams and Richard Liam Snell; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Faye C. Snyder officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Brunswick, MD at a later date.
