Leo J. Lawrence

Leo J. Lawrence, 73, of Hanover, died peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Hanover Hospital following an extended illness.

Born on Friday, March 5, 1943 in McSherrystown, he was a son of the late Leo J. “Jinx” Lawrence, Sr. and Helen C. Hoffman Lawrence. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lawrence and a sister, Julia Stewart. A 1961 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, he furthered his education at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. He was a computer programmer with Buck Consultants for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed the game of baseball and coached the company baseball team. Leo was a quiet, gentle soul who enjoyed reading and helping others.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Lawrence of Harrisonburg, VA; two brothers, Donald Lawrence and his wife, Christina, of Downsville, NY and Eugene Lawrence and his wife, Jacqueline, of Navarre, FL; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats.

Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Annunciation B.V.M Church, 23 North Third Street, McSherrystown with The Rev. Charles L. Persing officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation B.V.M. Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
