Leah Jane Shealer

Leah Jane Keagy Shealer, 95, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.

Born on Tuesday, April 25, 1922 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Preston L. Keagy and Catherine E. Young Gallagher. She was also a step-daughter of the late Ruth H. Parr and Hubert A. Gallagher; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Shealer, who died in 1951; and one sister, Harriet K. McLean. She was a 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

Leah was a supervisor in communications with the Miami - Dade County Sheriff and Fire Departments for 15 years before moving to Venice, FL in 1977. She later retired in 1997 from AC Nielsen Media Research, in Venice, after 13 years of service.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Elizabeth Mathews of Edgewater, FL; two nephews, Donald F. Smith and his wife, Betty, of Mobile, AL and Richard L. Smith and his wife, Joan, of Chambersburg; and two step-sisters, Marie Roth of Gettysburg and Josephine Kuhn of Elysburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Church with The Rev. Michael P. Reid, II officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
