Mary K. “Kitty” Hershey, 91, of Hanover, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at UMPC Pinnacle Hanover following a brief illness.
Born on Monday, February 14, 1927 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Daisy Fleagle Linton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, the late Merle J. Weaver, who died in 1977, her husband of 24 years, the late Charles “Jack” Hershey, who died in 2009 and a sister, Betty L. Noble.
A graduate of Pacific School of Business in Carmel, CA, she was employed by Shultz Insurance for more than 33 years before her retirement in 1988. She was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she served on many committees. She was active with the Women of Trinity, having served as Treasurer, was involved with the Golden Rule Sunday School and was co-coordinator of all luncheons. She helped to assemble the School Kits for Church World Service for 12 years. She loved to read, play computer games and cook delicious meals. She had a fondness for cats and dogs and the unconditional love that they had in her life.
She is survived by two sons, D. Lynn Weaver and his wife, Edith of McSherrystown and John S. Weaver and his wife, Drema of Hanover; five grandchildren, Kim Robinson, Christopher Weaver, Jennifer Thompson, Shannon Weaver and Chad Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Breanne, Josh, Benjamin, Kaegan and Patrick and two nephews and their families, Robert D. Wantz and his wife Joanne of FL and Randall Wantz of Hanover.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Trinity United Church of Christ with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. The graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday in Rest Haven Cemetery.
